Job Description
WWF India’s Marine Programme works on a range of issues including conservation of species and habitats, sustainable fisheries, coastal and island development, marine plastics and ghost gear. The marine programme team is based in various coastal states, including Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Lakshadweep and Orissa. We are looking for a senior programme officer to work on Information, Education and Communication (IEC) aspects of the Source to Sea plastic project and other marine conservation projects that will be run out of our office in Goa. The position will be based in Panaji, Goa and will include work in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Location: Goa
Job Profile:
- Manage the implementation and coordination of IEC activities in schools, colleges and other relevant institutions for the source to sea plastics project in Goa.
- Manage the planning, designing and implementation of activities under WWF India’s nature awareness project (ShoreLore) in collaboration with Goa Forest Department.
- Carry out data collection, stakeholder trainings and provide inputs in the outreach material design as required.
- Assist in baseline data collection, literature review and project design for existing and planned projects.
- Work with the WWF India fundraising, project and communication teams to provide input towards designing of new projects.
- Assist in arrangements, planning and implementation for events organized by the Goa office from time to time.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Post Graduation in Marine science, Environmental science, Zoology, Biotechnology or any other branch of life sciences.
- 5+ years’ combined experience in managing projects/team/startup including teaching or working with students.
- Field team management, data collection & representation, drafting reports and reporting to donors/funders.
- Fluency in written & spoken – English and spoken – Konkani is required.
- Experience of working with indigenous coastal communities or students, especially teaching in an academic setting.
