CONTRACTUAL ENGAGEMENT OF PROJECT PERSONNEL IN THE NRCD-WII PROJECT “ASSESSMENT OF THE ECOLOGICAL STATUS OF SELECT INDIAN RIVERS FOR CONSERVATION PLANNING”

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute plans to engage project personnel (Indian national only) in the above-mentioned project on a purely contractual basis, initially for a one-year period from the date of engagement that can be extended depending on the candidate’s performance and the programme needs for a further period for one more year or till the end of the project. The project aims to assess the ecological status of the Narmada, Mahanadi, Godavari, Cauvery, Periyar and Barak rivers for conservation planning. required position are given in Appendix 1. The upper age limits for all posts may be relaxed up to 5 years for SC/ST/Women/Physically Challenged and 3 years for OBC candidates.

The candidate should send the duly filled application form (Annexure 2) in a sealed envelope super-scribed “WIINRCD PROJECT” and the “NAME OF POST APPLIED FOR”, with self-attested true copies of educational qualifications, experience certificates, extra-curricular activity, certificate of date of birth (certificate or mark sheet of high school), to The Registrar, Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Post Office – Mohbewala, Dehra Dun, 248002, Uttarakhand. Each candidate can apply at the most for two positions only. Application fees of Rs. 500/- for each post applied, will have to be deposited through Demand Draft made in favor of the Director, Wildlife Institute of India, payable at Dehra Dun for each position. The Demand Draft will have to be submitted with the application form. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and Physically Challenged (PC) categories need not pay any fees but will have to pay Rs. 100 as application handling charges. The SC/ST/PC certificate should be attached with the application. Applications without Demand Draft of required amount and self-attested documents will be treated as incomplete and will be rejected. The applications that are not submitted in the prescribed format as given in Annexure 2 will not be considered. The completed application should reach the Office of the Registrar by 30th January 2023 by 5:30 P.M.

The selection for all the posts will be based on personal interviews, which will be conducted by a duly constituted Interview Committee. All the applications received, will be screened and only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The date of the interview will be communicated to the candidates for making travel arrangements to report at WII or through Video Conferencing. The selection of the candidate will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. The prescribed essential qualifications and desirable qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for an interview.

If the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible for the selection board to interview all those candidates who have applied. Hence, the Institute may shortlist the candidates to a reasonable limit based on the essential and desirable qualifications/record of academic performance / relevant
experience for the post or any other benchmarks as decided by a committee constituted to screen the applications. The criteria for screening of applications will be based on the candidates qualifying credentials against:

  1. The specified essential qualification,
  2. Date of birth (The upper age limit is to be calculated based on the last date for applying to this advertisement January, 2023),
  3. Completeness of the application in terms of providing accurate details and submission of the passport size photograph, demand draft, and self-attested copies of the mark sheets, academic and experience certificates, signature, name of referees,
  4. Experience in relevant field as suitable for the post applied for,
  5. Desirable qualification and experience as specified against each position,
  6. Consistent academic performance at one or more levels etc. The candidate’s experience certificates should clearly specify whether they possess the experience / knowledge / skills / technology / software platform requested in the essential/desirable experience requirements against the post.

The benchmark for screening the applications will be set by a committee constituted to screen the applications. The final selection of the Screened-in candidate will be based on the candidate’s performance before the Interview Committee. Meer fulfilling the essential and desirable qualification does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview. The decision of the Institute’s Screening Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of the application, and mode of selection will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual or his/her agency. At the time of the verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered. All original documents should be produced at the time of joining. No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview.

Incomplete applications/applications sent by email are liable to be rejected. The application should reach the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun by 30th January 2023 by 05:30 P.M. Any application received after the last date and without self-attested documents will be rejected.

Desirable Qualification (DQ): Expertise in river and wetland ecology or conservation and sound knowledge of the biology of aquatic wildlife. Proven track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Work description: The candidate will implement the objectives of the project by collecting, collating and analyzing information on the Rivers of India.

Work description: The candidate will assist in field sampling for biodiversity profiling and assessing various environmental parameters. They will assist in the literature survey and report preparation.

General Terms and conditions:

  1. The selection of the candidates will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents should be produced at the time of the interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of the application will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual.
  2. The candidates are required to submit their completed application forms in PDF format, with accompanying attachments by email with the subject line: “Application for the post of Project Associate-I in the Project “Preparation of Wildlife Conservation Plan for impact zone of MP30 Gandhi Sagar off-stream pumped storage project, Madhya Pradesh” to <registrarpr@wii.gov.in> and not later than 1700 hrs on 02.12.2022.
  3. Application forms need to be typed according to the prescribed format and must be accompanied by self-attested: (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will not be considered.
  4. If a candidate is applying for more than one post, separate applications have to be submitted for every post applied for.
  5. The applications received will be rejected by the Institute, if (i) receive after the deadline, (ii) not in the prescribed application format, (iii) self-attested documents of qualification, date of birth & experience are not attached or (iv) received without said subject line in e-mail/ post. 
  6. Mere fulfilment of the minimum advertised qualifications and experience requirement DOES NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for an interview.
  7. The shortlisting of candidates will be based on a combination of Essential and Desirable Qualifications mentioned in the advertisement. The shortlisted candidates will be notified (through email and website notification) for online/personal interviews.
  8. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.
  9. The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will stand abolished after the completion of the project.

  12. After the announcement of the results, the candidate should join the project immediately.
  13. The headquarters for the above posts would be the various field sites in remote areas or at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun. The selected candidate would be liable to serve at any field location or task decided by the Institute as per functional needs.
  14. The offer of appointment will be for 06 Months which would not be extended as it is a short-term project.
  15. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.
