Project name: Antiviral Drug designing.
Brief Description:
Within the scope of this project, the carboline-based viral RdRp (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase) inhibitors will be synthesized at NIPER-Kolkata. The inhibitors will be developed against RdRp of the SARS-CoV-2 virus as well as the Dengue virus. The different inhibitor molecules will then be tested by a high through-put cell-based luciferase assay system for checking efficacy. The inhibitory effect of the selected inhibitors will then be tested against live SARS-CoV-2 or Dengue virus replication. The selected inhibitors will further be validated by using a suitable animal model to check in vivo anti-viral activity.

Consolidated and fixed monthly emolument – 31,000/- + HRA (as admissible)
Essential Qualifications –
- Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized university or equivalent.
- (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or (b) GATE qualified or (c) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
Desirable Qualifications –
- Hands-on working experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, WB, RT-PCR, Luciferase assay etc.).
- Experience of bioinformatic data analysis.
Nature of Duty –
- Basic molecular biology work.
- Highthroughput Drug screening with viral infection in cell culture model.
- Animal handling
