All should report at 09.30 am sharp at the address given below, and those candidates appearing for the interview should register their names in the register, kept at the Security Gate.

The National
Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. NCCS invites applications for the following posts on various extramural projects purely on a temporary basis.
Post I

Name of the Project: Establishment of a Pune Biotech Cluster, “Model Organisms to Human Disease.” (Bio-Imaging Facility)
Name of the PI: Dr. Mohan Wani
Essential Qualification & Experience: i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; And ii) 4 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services. OR Doctoral Degree in Science/Engineering/Technology/Pharma/MD/MS from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience: Should have in-depth knowledge of advanced light microscopy techniques. A person with experience in independently handling microscopes for biological samples including cells (Fluorescence, Confocal, etc) and proven team management capabilities will be preferred.
Project Tenure: Up to 28.06.2024
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 42000/- + HRA

Name of the PI: Dr. Mohan Wani
Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent. And 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
Desirable Experience: Excellent Lab/Administrative skills to provide supervisory assistance to the PI. Should have excellent knowledge of working and operations in a Biosafety Lab. A recommendation letter highlighting the leadership skills of working in a BSL-3 Facility or at least a BSL-2 level facility is highly desirable.
Project Tenure: Up to 28.06.2024
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 28000/- + HRA

Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
- Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
Desirable Experience:
- Excellent Lab skills to provide official and technical support to the PI in setting up the BSL-3 Lab, streamlining its operations.
- Should have excellent technical knowledge in Biosafety procedures.
- A recommendation letter highlighting the technical assistance provided elsewhere would be desirable.

Desirable Experience:
- Excellent Biosafety Laboratory operations experience of at least a year is desirable.
- Should have supervised the technical troubleshooting of day-to-day operations of a BSL3 or at least a BSL-2 facility for at least a year.
- Should have good operational knowledge in a Biosafety Lab.

Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience. A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in tissue culture, long noncoding RNA, western blotting, molecular cloning, protein purification.
Project Tenure: Up to 18.08.2024
Total Monthly Emoluments:
- *Rs. 35000 /- + HRA for those who meet the above essential qualifications.
- **Rs. 31000/- + HRA for those who meet the required qualifications but do not have 2 years of research experience.

- Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in molecular cloning and protein purification. Candidate should be knowing basics of R and Python.
Project Tenure: Up to 02.04.2026
Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 31000/- + HRA

Name of the Project: Identifying interactors of E-cadherin in embryonic stem cells.
Name of the PI: Dr. Deepa Subramanyam.
Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience with confocal or super resolution microscopy, image analysis, cell culture and gene editing.
Project Tenure: Up to 30.12.2024
Total Monthly Emoluments:
- (i) Rs. 31000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.
- (ii) Rs. 25000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
Age limit: Not more than 35 years as on the last date of the application.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

- Caste Certificate, Latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate, if applicable.
- Work experience certificates, if applicable.
The duration of the offer will be determined based on fund availability.
Other important Points:
- The Director, NCCS reserves the right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and cancel the recruitment process, if required. Additional percentage and experience cut-off will be applied during the screening process, if required.
- The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum, and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for Walk-in Interviews. The Centre reserves the right to call for Walk-in Interviews only for those candidates who, in its opinion, are likely to be suitable.
- The number of candidates to be called for the interview may be restricted to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration the essential qualifications and desirable experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying. No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on this matter.
- The above-advertised positions are filled up purely on a temporary basis for a limited time on the extramural projects funded by various funding agencies. The position will automatically be co-terminus on the completion of the candidate’s tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in the funding agency or in NCCS, Pune.
- Fellowship/Emoluments: Emoluments to the research personnel engaged under the project will be made in accordance with the sanction order or the latest DST O.M., whichever the case may be.
- Age limit will be considered as on the closing date of receipt of the application. Age relaxation of 5 years in the case of Women/SC/ST/PH candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC candidates will be given as per the Government of India rules. OBC candidates must produce the latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate. Reservation as per Govt. of India norms will be followed.
- Age & Experience may be relaxed in exceptional cases by the Competent Authority.
- No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
- Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as disqualification for the post.
- The posts advertised shall be need-based without any commitment for their filling.
- Selected candidates will have to join duty within one month of the receipt of the offer of appointment.
- Lower positions may be offered if candidates are not found suitable for the above-advertised positions.
