ICMR-NIOH, Ahmedabad will hold a Walk-in-Interview to select Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for working with own fellowship in the time-bound GPCB funded project entitled “Impact of Lead on Health Implications through Occupational Lead exposure: A study on Lead Exposed Industries in Gujarat” [No. GPCB/HAZ-GEN-754/759030] at this Institute. The post is purely temporary, ad-hoc and on contractual basis, and co-terminus with the JRF own fellowship, or University PhD submission deadline, whichever is later.

Essential Qualifications: 1st Class M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Toxicology/Life Science/ Biotechnology from UGC recognized university and qualified any one National Eligibility Test with Own Fellowship – CSIR-UGC NET, National level examination conducted by Central Govt. Dept. and their agencies such as DBT, ICMR, etc

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Able to perform
    • Analytical techniques such as ICP-MS, LC-MS, XRD, etc.
    • Biochemical techniques such as ELISA, UV/Vis Spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and various automated biochemical analysis platforms
    • PBMC culture, Fluorescent microscopy, FESEM, Confocal microscopy, AFM and flowcytometry
    • Molecular biology techniques such as protein and nucleic acid isolation, purification, co-immunoprecipitation, Western blot, PCR and immunofluorescence
    • Systematic review/data aggregation from various scholarly databases
  2. Knowledge, or any prior experience of or able to perform
    • Omics, Bioinformatics, GIS
    • Biostatistics, data entry, data analysis
    • Data representation for report and publication
    • MS-Word, Power-point, Excel and suitable analysis platform such as SPSS/Prism/Origin, etc.
  3. Proficiency in English language

Age: Not exceeding 28 years on the date of interview

Consolidated Salary: As per JRF own fellowship according to qualifying any one National level eligibility test mentioned-above.

Place of work: ICMR-National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad, or any other places as per project requirement

Job Requirement

Visit lead industries in Gujarat for collection of subject consent, questionnaire-based data and biological samples from workers. Environmental sample collection from different sites. Metal analysis in biological and environmental samples by ICP-MS. Allostatic load parameters analysis such as ZPP, EP, CPP, cortisol, E/NE, CRP, serotonin, DHEA/DHEAS, TNF- , IL1β, IL-6, NfP, neurogranin. Hemoglobin, ALA-D, ALA, lipid profile, creatinine and albumin analysis. SCEs and karyotyping, DNA-protein cross- link and CBC analysis. LC-MS analysis of serum samples for Omics/Bioinformatics study; and other tasks as mentioned in the desirable qualification section.

JRF Tenure: As per duration of JRF own fellowship, or University PhD submission deadline, whichever is later.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Selection Procedure: The shortlisted candidates will only be called for a personal Interview. The Interview will be conducted at ICMR-National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad with prior intimation to the candidates.

Qualification & experience required are as per guidelines; experience shall be counted after acquiring the essential qualification; age limit and experience will be considered as on the date of the interview.

The engagement may be extended after every specific period of the time subject to satisfactory performance and job requirement.

Candidate should bring filled in application form with one set of self-attested photocopy of essential qualification and experience along with a photograph as mentioned above.

Candidate should submit all certificates, testimonials, mark-sheets, award letter in original for verification. Candidate who fails to bring the Original all Certificates, Testimonials, Mark-sheets, Award letter, etc., and one copy of color passport size photo, will not be considered for walk-in-interview.

Submission of incorrect or false information during the process shall disqualify the candidature.

Any further information may be downloaded from ICMR-NIOH website, which will be updated from time to time. Date of personal discussion / written test may be changed due to administrative reasons. Hence, candidates are advised to check the website before appearing for personal discussion / written test.

The decision of the Director/Director-in-Charge, ICMR- National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad will be final in this regard. Canvassing in any form will be considered as a disqualification.

The engagement to the project position is purely on a time-bound contract basis and the Competent Authority reserves the right to dispense with the engagement, at any time without assigning any reasons.

The engagement can be terminated during the tenure at any time by giving one-month notice on either side. Your engagement can be terminated forthwith or before expiry of the notice period, by making payment of a sum equivalent to one-month project position remuneration. However, you will not be permitted to surrender one-month remuneration, in lieu of the period of notice of the unexpired portion thereof and you will be required to serve the full period of notice. (Note — The mandate of one-month notice from either side, as stated herein, will not be applicable in case the project is decided to be closed by the competent authority within a period of less than 30 days/one month.)

The engagement will be under the Administrative control of the ICMR-NIOH / Centre of ICMR-NIOH and will be subject to all the rules and regulations of the ICMR-NIOH / Centre of ICMR-NIOH as applicable to fixed term project positions/persons during the tenure/period of engagement.

As per project requirement the posting will be at office/field/sitework/travel etc. at the study site; however, may be temporarily posted to other study sites in the interest of project work.

There will not be entitlement to any other allowances such as Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, LTC, Bonus, etc. Also, the incumbent shall not be provided any medical facility under CGHS / CS (MA) Rules as admissible to regular employees, and not entitled for any terminal benefits after completion of the project period or otherwise.

No travelling and/or daily allowance will be admissible either for joining the assignment or on expiry of the contract. However, while travelling in connection with the assigned work during the period of engagement, you will be entitled to draw TA/DA in accordance with your Stipend / Emoluments, but it will not be at par with the regular / permanent employees of ICMR.

Age relaxation will be admissible as per GoI and ICMR norms. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other ICMR research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons. Candidates employed in Govt. Service /Semi Govt. /Autonomous Bodies of State/Central Govt. should submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer at the time of written test /walk-in Interview. There will not have any claim on a regular post in ICMR-NIOH / Centre of ICMR-NIOH or in any Dept. of GOI. An undertaking to this effect before joining the project position.
